MANILA – The shear line and the northeast monsoon, or amihan, will bring widespread rain across Luzon while the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will affect parts of Visayas and Mindanao, the weather bureau said on Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the shear line, formed by the convergence of warm and cool air, will affect southern Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms with moderate to heavy, at times intense, rainfall over the Bicol Region, Quezon, and Aurora.

Pagasa warned residents, particularly in Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur, against localized flooding mainly in areas that are urbanized, low lying or near rivers. It added that landslide is possible in highly susceptible areas.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa will experience cloudy skies with rain from amihan.

Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and Palawan will also face cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, caused by the ITCZ.

The rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, while the rest of the country can expect partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

A letter from the board of Seven & i Holdings to its Canadian rival said it was open to “engaging in sincere discussions should you put forth a proposal that fully recognizes our standalone intrinsic value.”

Pagasa also issued warnings for strong to gale-force winds in Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas, with rough to very rough seas and wave heights of 3.1 to 5 meters.

For the rest of Luzon and the Visayas, moderate to strong winds will cause moderate to rough seas. Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
